The Multi-Timeframe Sniper Setup: Daily Bias, Liquidity Sweep, Structure Shift and a 3R Target
Forextity AcademyUpdated October 2026
Most trades fail because they combine a good idea with a poor stop or an unrealistic target. The Sniper setup stacks five conditions and demands at least three times the risk in reward — which means it triggers rarely, and that is the point.
The five conditions
Daily bias. Trade only in the direction of the daily trend (higher highs and lows for longs, lower highs and lows for shorts). See multi-timeframe analysis.
Daily premium or discount. Longs are preferred when price sits below the midpoint of the last 20 days (discount); shorts above it (premium).
Liquidity sweep. On your trading chart, price raids a pool of stop orders — the previous day or Asian high / low, equal highs or lows, or a recent swing — then closes back inside. See ICT concepts explained.
Market-structure shift. After the sweep price breaks a recent swing point in the opposite direction, showing control may have changed. See Smart Money Concepts.
OTE entry with confluence. Price pulls back 62–79% into the leg that caused the shift, ideally into a fair value gap or order block inside that zone.
Candles to expect before you enter
Bullish setup: Sniper: daily bias agrees, then the same four stages
Stage 1 — Sweep: wick through the pool, closes back inside
Stages 2 and 3 — structure shifts with one big impulsive candle that leaves a gap
Stage 4 — Retest: price returns to the gap and rejects. Enter here
Stop and target
The stop goes just beyond the sweep extreme — if price returns there, the idea is wrong. The target is the nearest swing level on the daily chart that pays at least three times the risk. If no daily level offers 3R, the setup is skipped (or it scores low). A tight stop plus a far target is what produces reward-to-risk ratios of 3:1 to 8:1.
Example in numbers
Entry 1.0980, stop 1.0962 (18 pips risk), daily target 1.1060 (80 pips reward) → reward:risk ≈ 4.4. With a 35% win rate this still has a positive expectancy: 0.35 × 4.4 − 0.65 = +0.89R per trade.
Why it is rare — and why that is fine
Five conditions rarely line up. A strategy that fires every day is not selective. The Forextity scanner scores each condition and the Setup Radar can scan ten markets so you do not need to stare at charts all day.
Limits and risk
Sweeps often fail and keep going. The stop exists for that reason.
Win rates for high-RR setups are usually under 50%, so losing streaks are normal. Use the Stress Test to see how long they can last.
Risk a small fixed percentage per trade and size it with the ATR Stop & Size or position size calculator.
Avoid trading into major news; check the economic calendar.
Let the scanner check all five conditions. Choose the Advanced category, pick MTF Sniper Setup and your trading style.
